Holistic Therapy

I provide therapy for adults in the San Francisco Bay Area. I help my clients understand patterns and behaviors that aren’t serving them and work toward the change they would like to see. With guidance, you can gain a deeper connection with yourself and understand what is needed for your well-being. Therapy can help you resolve painful feelings, negative thought cycles, and self-limiting beliefs, as well as improve relationships.

Holistic therapy integrates a number of approaches and allows me to orient to each client’s needs. You can read more about the approaches I integrate below. There are other tools we can use depending on your interest, such as guided imagery and ecotherapy.

Working together, we can decide the approach that will best support you. For a free initial phone consultation call (415) 820-3202 or use my online calendar to schedule a convenient time to talk.

Therapy Modalities and Approaches

Psychodynamic therapy

I offer psychodynamic therapy that is relational and incorporates attachment theory and neuroscience. This approach helps us identify patterns and beliefs that create suffering. These patterns, often based on our earliest experiences, can drive our emotions and the decisions we make. So often, this is what is beneath depression, loneliness, low self-esteem, and anxiety.

With guidance and support you can gain insight into these patterns and process them so they no longer have the power to highjack your life. This can increase self-confidence and help you build more satisfying relationships with others. Focusing on strengths and building resources is an important part of this work and rewires neural pathways in a way that supports emotional health and contentment.

Somatic therapy

Somatic psychology utilizes the body-mind connection so therapy goes deeper than the level of working with thoughts. We are often somewhat disconnected from our body, which holds a wealth of information about how we feel and what we want, as well as the grief and traumas we have experienced. Somatic therapy helps us explore situations in a transformative way and build new resources to use in day-to-day life.

Somatic therapy is helpful for healing from painful emotions and difficult childhood experiences, increasing self-awareness, and practicing new ways of being in the world.

Mindfulness therapy

Mindfulness therapy is similar to somatic therapy in that it is based on our present moment experience. This approach helps you learn how to pause and investigate habitual thoughts and emotions instead of getting trapped in them. You can question negative beliefs you have about yourself and learn how to heal the parts of you that hold these beliefs.

Mindfulness-based therapy is particularly helpful for clients who are committed to reducing self-criticism, increasing self-acceptance, and learning compassionate assertiveness.
