Urban Ecotherapy Daylong Workshop -
Explore the Essence of Summer

Glen Park Canyon, San Francisco, CA

Date: Saturday June 25, 2011
Time: 9am-5pm

“Summer is the season when nature comes into its fullness.” Angeles Arrien

As the sun marches higher in the sky the days continue to lengthen, and blossoms will soon grow into fruit. Each year we can count on the ripening and abundance summer brings. It is a time of growth, of stretching toward the sun, of play and vitality, of fruition.

This summer we invite you to join us for a day of deep listening to inner and outer nature. Looking toward the seasons as metaphors for inner life, we will focus on listening to the gifts of summer and reflect on our own potential for growth and abundance. We will explore earth-based healing and inquiry practices, with a focus on the unique psychological, somatic and spiritual experience evoked by summer. The day will include: group time with nature-based teaching, contemplative solo time in nature, and group reflection on where we are at within the seasons of inner life.

Our workshop takes place in San Francisco in Glen Canyon Park, a gem of nature encircled by urban life. This beautiful and diverse terrain provides an opportunity to connect with nature in our own urban backyard.

“I loved this workshop because I realized the peace that nature brings is much closer than I thought – even in the city. I loved learning more about the gifts of the medicine wheel and seeing myself in each of the 4 directions. I was very moved being witnessed by Devona and Amanda after telling the story of my solo time in nature. I was amazed by how deep we could go in a daylong workshop. I felt relaxed, present, and connected.” – CM

Amanda and Devona are excellent facilitators – they thread a deep love and respect for the natural world through every aspect of their urban ecotherapy workshop. The workshop helped me access the relationship between the power of nature and my own creative process.  I felt renewed by my solo time in the urban park, then supported and empowered in the community council circle. Most importantly, Amanda and Devona led the workshop with an intuition and grace reflective of the harmony of the natural world. – NM
